Mission Statement
JSKR Haedong Kumdo 501(c)(3) is devoted to the education, preservation, and practice of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu Haedong Kumdo, the traditional Korean two-sword system founded by Grandmaster Kim, Jeong Seong.
Through the integration of martial skill, deep philosophy, and healing practices, we aim to inspire personal growth, strengthen community connections, and nurture cultural appreciation.
As a 501(c)(3) educational and charitable organization, we are committed to making our programs welcoming and accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds — including but not limited to those in underserved, low-income, or neurodivergent communities. Through training, seminars, and outreach, we strive to enrich lives, promote holistic well-being, and ensure the growth and integrity of this art throughout the United States.

Literacy & Sword Camp – June, held at Summit Academy Lorain, Ohio
Our Literacy & Sword Camp was hosted and supported by Summit Academy Lorain, combining reading enrichment with martial arts training to build confidence, focus, and creativity in students. Each day began with interactive literacy activities that strengthened reading and comprehension skills, followed by sword practice sessions that emphasized discipline, movement, and energy awareness.
A highlight of the program was a live Zoom session with Grandmaster Kim, Jeong Seong from Busan, Korea, who introduced students to the fundamentals of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu Haedong Kumdo.
This unique blend of academics and martial arts not only supported student growth but also created a cultural exchange experience, bringing international training and global connection directly to our local community.
Thanks to the support of donors and partners, programs like this allow us to make sword literacy accessible to all students — including those in underserved and neurodivergent communities — while building confidence, focus, and a love of learning.
